Conservation is the cheapest source of water, since water we save is water we don't have to buy from more expensive sources.
SAWS dedication to conserving water has received national recognition. Conservation programs in 2007 achieved water savings of 843 million gallons. That's enough water to serve nearly 9,000 families for one year.
Through SAWS conservation programs, San Antonians can boast having some of the lowest water use per person in the nation.
Conserving water reduces the need for additional equipment to treat and distribute water, as well as treat wastewater after it's used.
"Through SAWS Season to Save toilet program we are able to fund programs in our community for senior citizens and children, and have social activities in our park. Without the money we get from SAWS Season to Save program we wouldn't be able to operate – period."
Kathy Harris Skyline Neighborhood Association President
